Look to Jesus

Salvation is not gained by observing religious ritual, doing good works, or keeping 'the golden rule'. We must receive a divine Person.

Simeon, a priest in the temple at Jerusalem, understood this very clearly.
When he took the holy Child from Mary's arms, he said,

Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;
A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
(Luke Ch2 vv 25-32)

He realized that this Child was the promised Messiah who would suffer and die for our sins. Like Simeon, we must look to Jesus for our salvation.

A man went forward at an evangelistic service, and the counsellor told him to believe in Jesus.
He went back the next night and talked with another counsellor, who also told him to believe in Jesus. This time the inquirer was saved.
Later he met the first counsellor, who asked what the second counsellor had said that brought him peace.
The man replied, "He told me to believe in Jesus." The first man replied, "But that's what I told you to do!" "That's true," said the man, "but you told me to BELIEVE in Jesus - He told me to believe in JESUS!
I was looking at my weak faith, but he stressed faith's object.
He told me to let Jesus do it all!

If you focus on your faith, you'll be miserable. If you look to JESUS, you'll be saved.

Lord ...mine eyes have seen Thy salvation.
