GOOD FRIDAY

So what's good about Good Friday?

The way Jesus suffered was horrendous.
His treatment was brutal.

Jesus was given an unfair trial during the night. His disciples deserted Him. Peter denied knowing Him.
He was spat at and punched.
His face was slapped and He was hit on the head with a wooden staff.
Throughout the ordeal He was mocked and insulted. Before being crucified He was beaten with a three-pronged whip, which ripped open the skin on His back.
While nailed to a cross He was jeered - by the Romans, the temple leaders, passers-by - even the two thieves that were crucified with Him.

So what's good about Good Friday??

One of the criminals crucified alongside Jesus was the first to discover what was good about that day.

Initially he mocked Jesus too, but as the hours passed by he realised that Jesus was very special.
Not only was Jesus innocent, but He was indeed the Saviour God had sent to the world.
He realised Jesus wasn't finished. No way!
He would be returning as King and he wanted to be there when Jesus took control.

How did Jesus treat the Criminal who had insulted Him?
He forgave him so that he too would be able to enter into heaven that day.

Jesus said "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." Luke 23 v 43

Good Friday is good because it is the day that God's only begotten Son Jesus, paid the price for my sin and for your sin.

Good Friday is good because we no longer have to pay that price.

Good Friday is good because all we have to do is accept that the price for our sin was paid.

Repent of your sin, accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and you will know the goodness of God in your life now - and for all eternity!

Receive Jesus as your own personal Saviour, and like the thief on the cross, you too will know your eternal future is secure.

Now THAT is good!
